Expansion centre should be used. A: When fitting sections totaling 13 m (40 ft.) or more. B: When the eavestroughing system surrounds the house completely, eg.on houses with hip roofs. If the distance between two expansion centre drops exceeds 26 m (80 ft.), fit an expansion joint connector. At the point where it is required to fit the centre drop, mount two brackets with a gap between them corresponding to the length of the expansion centre drop 22 cm (8 3/4"). |
(1)Heat the free ends of the eavestrough gently. When the PVC material has softened, form a drip edge. (2)Place the two lengths of troughing loose in the brackets and draw them into the expansion centre drop until the gap between them corresponds to the temperature chart (below). For example, if at the time of installation the air temperature is 20deg.C (68deg.F), the gap between two lengths of troughing should be 96 mm (3/8"). (3)Finally, snap the two lengths of troughing into their brackets. Important: Do not cement either piece of troughing to the expansion centre drop. (4)Lateral anchor (Fixed point). To control the direction of expansion, an anchor should be provided roughly halfway between two expansion centre drops. Saw a joint connector in half to form identical narrow strips, and cement one on either side of a bracket. This will anchor the section of troughinq.
