Plastmo Vinyl Rain Gutter (Eavestrough)
Plastmo Vinyl Window Profiles
Plastmo Ltd. Canada and Plastmo Inc. USA (Plastmo) were established in 1976. Both companies are descended from, but independent of, A/S Plastmontage in Denmark. The companies were established to market the vinyl rain gutter produced by Plastmontage since 1959. Plastmontage had succeeded in selling most of the vinyl rain gutter in Scandinavia by producing a leak-proof product so durable it would survive the extremes of the Scandinavian climate.
Plastmo was the first company to successfully market vinyl rain gutter in North America and set the stage for the industry that followed. By 1978 Plastmo Canada was extruding rain gutter with improved weatherability for the North American market. The product is so durable that installations from the first years are still surviving the heavy snow, ice, and ultra violet in the High Sierras of California and Nevada into 1996. Plastmo pioneered the use of acrylic enhanced vinyl gutter hangers to withstand heavy loads and reduce installation costs. All Plastmo gutters use solvent welded joints to prevent leakage and speed assembly. Most Plastmo rain gutter is sold through independent lumber and hardware stores to home owners. A few contractors around the world earn their living by installing Plastmo products.
Plastmo produced high quality outdoor furniture for a short time in the mid 80's.
In 1988 Plastmo secured the help of Plastmontage in Denmark (12 years experience with vinyl windows) to design a high performance window to meet the need for windows with high resistance to water and air infiltration in the Canadian Maritime provinces. Production of Vinyl Window Profiles began in 1989. The original "A" series casement/awning window has been very popular where strength and thermal efficiency are important and is found on commercial and residential buildings across North America. Plastmo profiles and know how are sold to independent companies which cut and assemble parts into finished windows.
Plastmo blends its own compound from carefully selected raw materials. Mixing extrusion resin from scratch insures greater uniformity in the end product and more recycle lives for the PVC compound in the future. Thirteen twin screw extruders and four injection molders are used to produce parts for the window profiles and rain gutters. Plastmo designs windows and produces extrusion dies in its own facility.
Plastmo has approximately 90 employees, several management personnel have been over 20 years with the company. There are also management and labor personnel with over 15 years in the company. This experience pool gives Plastmo a clear historical perspective, a high degree of stability and keen insights to help it's partners succeed.
